Blitz Tournament

On Sunday 18th May, the Men’s team put together a team of 5 to send to Dundee to participate in the Tayside and Fife Blitz Tournament for the first time.

The day was scheduled so that there was a group stage where all teams were played, and then depending on the team’s position after the group stage, they would be added either to the Blitz playoff or the Consolation Cup playoff.

As a team of 5, St Andrews struggled to begin with, hitting a three loss streak in the group stages transitioning into the Consolation Cup. However, the five didn’t let this stop them and they went on to win all their other games and faced Perth Phoenix Juniors in the final – a team who had beaten them in the group stage. It was a close game, full of tensions, but Saints came out on top 18-17.

This was the last chance for any competitive basketball for the semester, and was also the last game on the team for two of the five guys, and overall it was a very successful day.

Shoutout to Jan-Niklas Welge, Adrian Gomez Suarez, Nicholas Barron, Sean Talamas and Craig Stephen
