Tough Game for the Men

On Friday 18th April, Saints faced the Nationals for the second time this month with an expectation of what they would face on the night. With only five players arriving with the Nationals, it was set to be a game in Saints favour.

It was a typical slow start from the team, but not at the same level as usual, allowing Nationals to take an 8 point lead for the majority of the game. For the Saints it was an inconsistent game. Intensity and fast break points were interspersed amongst the poor decision making and easy turnovers. However, the third quarter saw the best basketball of the game – if not of the season – for Saints who were playing tug of war with the Nationals, closing up the lead only to lose it again.

Ultimately, it was a lack of focus on the court that saw Saints go down by 79 points to 71. It was a game hard fought, but it just didn’t seem to come together when it needed to for the guys. With only one game left of the season, it feels like the last game against Frews will be a game where the Saints have a point to prove.
